Radon Remediation Pittsburgh
Radon Mitigation
Once a radon test is completed and if it is established that the radon levels in your home are over the amount considered safe, it needs to be taken care of immediately. It is a serious risk to your health and the health of those you love if this isn’t resolved right away. A radon reading of 4.0 or above is considered hazardous for human beings, and can considerably increase the risk of lung cancer.
All buildings and homes are different challenges and therefore need to be individually treated as such. RT&M has extensive radon mitigation experience and we want to use all of that experience to help you keep yourself and your family safe and healthy. Since our service professionals are intensely trained, certified, licensed, and insured, they will be ready to show up at your location and get down to brass tacks. Our technicians have been through it all, and have very probably seen it all. Different home layouts and obstacles, and other issues such as unfinished and dirt floor basements are all things that our technicians are trained to handle. They are prepared to perform the task, from start to finish! Starting with the radon test, setting up of the radon mitigation system to blow the contaminated air out of your home, and ending with the post-radon mitigation test to determine if the levels of radon gas have sufficiently been reduced in your home and that they stay down.
Quality Radon Mitigation Systems
Our radon mitigation systems are designed to reduce the levels of radon in your home up to 99% and are an extremely effective way to reduce the amount of radon you and your family are being exposed to. Our advanced systems are installed by drilling down to the floor in your basement, or whatever room or space is at the bottom of your house. “Negative suction” is created by installing a PVC pipe down into the hole, which will pull the radon from the subfloor of your home, where it can disperse out into the atmosphere.
Radon remediation installation service
During the radon test, we will be able to get readings showing exactly where the gas levels are the highest. This insight gives us the ability to pick and choose the best, most practical and useful way of ridding your home of the toxic radon gas. If more suction is needed, multiple pipes may be run down underneath the concrete to provide the desired suction required to remove the radon.
If you already have a sump pump, good news! When everything is set up with the radon mitigation system, it will be directly connected to it so we will not have to drill any additional holes in your basement floor! A pipe would have to be installed into the existing gap that would run up and out through your rooftop and sealed to ensure an almost airtight lock that reduces the possibility of gas leakage. It is also our practice to seal up any other cracks, gaps, crevices, or spaces that make it easier for radon gas to seep into your home. It can seep in directly through the building materials, but nowhere near as much as when there are openings it can get in through. This process should be sufficient to significantly drop the radon levels, and reduce the exposure of you and your family up to 98.9%! It isn’t often, but in some cases, the radon mitigation system would need to be installed outside. Running the PVC pipes from underneath the concrete of your home.
Fan replacement
Each of our radon mitigation fans are wired with individual sensors designed to alert you if it stops working. They are designed to run regularly and provide you with 24-hour radon suction. The fans are directly connected to the power, so there will be no need to turn it on or off. Unfortunately, although our radon mitigation fans are heavy-duty and designed and constructed using the most high-quality materials, sometimes there are problems and the fan can stop working. If you are alerted that your radon fan has stopped working, give us a call and it will be repaired or replaced.
